The Abbaye de Maredsous was founded by the Abbaye de
Beuron in 1872, in Namur, a town deep in heart of the Belgian
Ardennes. The Abbey is home to 35 monks who, as
well as praying, fasting and other monastic
duties participate in the brewing process
according to rules laid out by Saint Benoit relating to hospitality
and piety.
The Abbey is also home to a library containing some 40,000 books, some of which are over 1,000 years old.
The range of beers is equally impressive, brewed with tradition, passion and know-how.
