Abbaye de WestmalleThe Westmalle Dubbel Brune is a Belgian beer brewed in the Trappist Abbaye de N.D in the Trappe du Sacré Cœur. Poured in a mahogany colour, it develops an impressive and long-lasting beige head. This color is due to the double dose of malt used to brew this Westmalle.
It releases powerful malty aromas with floral scents, tones of caramelized alcohol and yeast. In the mouth, the delicacy is obvious. One will immediately notice the liquorice, the subtly burned caramel, toasted notes and the dry and long bitterness.
The beer displays malty flavours all along the palate. This trappist beer is weaker than its little sisters: the Westvleteren of the Rochefort, but it is truly a quality product. After having let it rest a bit, you can pour it in its Westmalle Chalice Beer Glass and this way leave the yeast bed in the bottle.Product #: 884stars, based on 11 reviewsRegular price: 2.3€2.3Available from: Saveur BièreCondition: New productsin stock

Flying Dog BreweryThe Flying Dog Pale Ale by Flying Dog is a beer whose complixity comes from the numerous ingredients found in its recipe. It is brewed from malts “Carastan” and flavoured with American hops “Northern Brewer” and “Cascade”. Plus, it is hopped with fresh flowers of “Cascade” throughout the brewing process so that their flavouring action has more effect. It pours a nice orange-mahogany colour topped by a thin off-white head.
This beer features sweet aromas with many citrus fruit notes and hints of hops. In the mouth, one can taste flavours which are quite hard to discern. Brauerei HellerTraditionally, Wits from Bayern are brewed from a blend of barley malt and wheat. The particularity of this Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Weizen is that the barley malt is smoked before use. The special character of this wit lies in this peculiar technique. It challenges the nose with unexpected aromas, such as smoked scents of malt but also fruity scents of yeast with fine notes of banana. It is finely balanced in the mouth between fruity and smoked flavors. The end of the tasting appears sweeter, although the smoked malt can be sensed at all time.

White Frontier"Short BBE* date 31/10/2018. After this date, the beer is still perfectly drinkable, but may lose some of its flavour or nutritional value. *Best Before End"
The Beer: Another hearty winter warmer for Beery Christmas 2017, Spectaculoos is White Frontier's homage to the eponymous spiced ginger cookie. And what could be more appropriate on 6 December than the traditional St Nicholas's day biscuit?
Pouring slick, silky black beneath a small tan head, this Sweet Stout releases a rich black coffee bouquet with a delightful ginger and nutmeg character.
The rich, voluptuous aroma is echoed on the lightly carbonated, well-rounded palate, where it is met by a pleasing liquorice toffee sweetness. This sweet profile is in turn offset by an espresso bitterness and a warming alcohol note that creeps irresistibly across the tongue, to close on a delectably spicy bittersweet note.
The brewery: Nestled in the Swiss Alps, not far from Geneva and Mont Blanc, and just a stone's throw from the French and Italian borders, White Frontier is a brewery created by free-spirits for free-spirits.
Not afraid of pushing the boundaries, the team likes to live life on the edge, taking their inspiration from the great outdoors. And if they're not brewing, then they can most likely be found snowboarding, skiing, or simply hanging out, preferably with a great cup of coffee.
The style: Harking back to the 17th Century, the term Stout – meaning robust or full-bodied - originally referred to all strong ales, not just dark ales. In fact, black beers only became popular after 1817 when Master Maltster Daniel Wheeler developed his Black Patent Malt.
In the 20th Century breweries like Mackeson and Guinness experimented with adding lactose – unfermentable milk sugar - to create Milk Stout or Sweet Stout, marketed as a superfood for nursing mothers and the sick (medical opinion has changed somewhat since then). It's this lactose that gives Speculoos Sweet Stout its characteristic sweetness.
Food pairings: A beer for those of a sweet disposition, White Frontier Speculoos Sweet Stout is great with rich, creamy dark chocolate puddings thanks to its delicious mocha coffee character. Why not try pairing it with an espresso-speculoos tiramisu for a creamy coffee-infused hit?Product #: 29624stars, based on reviewsRegular price: 1.66€1.66Available from: Saveur BièreCondition: New productsin stock

To ØlThe Beer: Winter Wonderland by To Øl is a classic hoppy Wheat Ale with a clean, crisp unapologetically wheaty body. To Øl spent all year tinkering with the recipe to create a juicy, sessionable beer that captures all the fruity aroma of the hops.
Pouring hazy pale ochre beneath a small white head, Winter Wonderland breathes crisp zesty citrus and big grapefruit hops tones that give a spicy character to the bready, biscuity malts.
On the tongue, Winter Wonderland is supremely smooth, showing off many of the traits common to a great White IPA, and a softness characteristic of the wheat malt that is lifted to a superb grapefruit and spicy hops crescendo with a magnificent bitter finish.
The brewery: Flushed with the success of Santa's Hibernation, their contribution to Beery Christmas 2016, To Øl are back for the 2017 calendar with a new recipe, but the same exceptional quality we've come to expect the other 364 days of the year!
Based in Copenhagen, To Øl is an itinerant or nomadic brewery, inventing new and exciting recipes to be produced by partner breweries with spare capacity.
With a philosophy based on fresh ideas and fresher flavours, the critically-acclaimed brewery launched its first commercial beer way back in 2010, and the rest, as they say, is history! Proof of their dedication to quality, To Øl have been rated in Ratebeer's prestigious Top 100 breweries worldwide every year since 2012.
The style: An offshoot of the enduringly popular IPA style, Hoppy Wheat Ales – also known as White IPAs – combine the generous hopping of a true India Pale Ale or American IPA with the crisp, bready character of a Wheat Ale. They are commonly brewed with up to 70% malted and un-malted wheat grain.
While Wheat Ales tend towards the milder, fruitier end of the Craft Beer spectrum, Wheat IPAs are a more brash, in-your-face style that will appeal to hopheads thanks to the pronounced bitterness.
Food pairings: With its light, lively character, To Øl's Wheat IPA Ale is an ideal match for entrées and light mains alike. Thanks to its crisp, clean wheat malt and vibrant hops profile, it lends itself to generous salads, charcuterie, and soft cheeses such as mozzarella and chevre.
The clean, fresh malt character also works perfectly with Mediterranean mezze, in particular unctuous olive oil and garlic infused aubergine baba ganoush served with warm Lebanese flatbreads.Product #: 29607stars, based on reviewsRegular price: 3.3€3.3Available from: Saveur BièreCondition: New productsin stock

Brouwerij KeesThe Beer: We wish you a Beery Christmas and a HOPPY new year, and Kees's 24 Hops Before Christmas has enough hops to see you through to the middle of January! Brewed with 24 different varieties, this luxuriant Barley Wine mixes mellifluous malted barley with a blanket of spicy, aromatic, fruity, earthy hops. Nevertheless, while the hopping is generous, Kees has ensured the ensemble remains harmonious.
With a soft carbonation, this caramel-coloured Barley Wine is silky-smooth, with sweet brown sugar malts offset by the measured, thoroughly well-balanced hops profile, to conclude with a spreading duvet of alcohol and warm honey tones.
The brewery: Always ready to rise to the challenge, long-time Beery Christmas contributor Brouwerij Kees Bubberman is back once again to thrill our palates. Having produced a string of superb exclusive beers for the highlight of the Craft Beer year, the mastermind behind Kees Bubberman has been working hard to top last year's offering. It's not easy, but somehow he manages it every year! Kees is certainly versatile, often combining beer with classic desserts. Having trained as a chef, the Crafty Netherlander knows a bit about great flavours, and has built a well-earned reputation for combining them with great beers.
The style: With a typical ABV of 8-10% - although it's not uncommon to find them as strong as 12% - Barley Wines are characterised by earthy hops and a wine-like malt profile full of fruity caramel toffee notes. The style dates from back to the Napoleonic wars when French wines were in short supply, and it was every man's patriotic duty to drink ale instead. It was brewed strong to withstand up to 2 years in the cask. Today's Barley wines tend to be big, sweet brews with a ripe pear-drop and stone fruit character with a good dose of hops to give peppery bitterness and a strong floral note.
Food pairings: With their strong, rounded body and pronounced sweetness, Barley wines require some taming, and what could be better, or simpler than a classic French blue cheese – Bleu d'Auverge, Fourme D'ambert or the classic Roquefort - spread generously on freshly sliced, lightly toasted artisanal walnut bread? Alternatively, if you're in the mod for something sweet, then we can highly recommend pairing your Barley Wine with a sinfully creamy crème brulée.Product #: 29616stars, based on reviewsRegular price: 3.2€3.2Available from: Saveur BièreCondition: New productsin stock
