The Grupo Modelo brewery, founded in 1925, is Mexico’s leading beer producer. It produces the famous Corona Extra, amongst others. Negra Modelo is a Viennese Lager-type beer, originally made in Mexico by Austrian immigrants in 1926. The Modelo Negra bottle is wide and made from thick brown glass. The beer itself is dark, but not cloudy. A very discreet nose. The palate has flavours of chocolate, then very slightly smoky coffee, and the finish is very discreetly bitter.
