Light, bright and exceptionally, fruity, Juicy is another Beery Christmas exclusive
Bright yellow body, fluffy white head
Juicy fruity sweeties!
Fruity gummi bear hops, crisp Pale Ale malt
The Beer: Light, bright and exceptionally, fruity, Tiny Rebel's Juicy takes its inspiration from the sweet shop, purveyor of candies and scourge of dentists everywhere.
Juicy by name and juicy by nature, this sparkling Golden Ale proudly shows off a shimmering gold body beneath a small white head, breathing crisp malts and fruity, zesty hops that evoke gummi bears, jelly snakes and fruit salad chewy sweets.
On the tongue you'll find more juicy fruit hops wrapped in a fresh, clean light malt body, and a carbonation that lifts the whole tasting experience to another level, before closing on a wickedly moreish bitter note.
The Brewery: Based in Newport, Gwent, the Welsh wunderkinds at Tiny Rebel have been brewing up a storm in South Wales for some years now, putting their own stamp on some classic styles, and developing some sensational new recipes too.
The company was born in 2012 with a team composed of the founders Gazz and Brad. Since then the brewery has expanded its family to over 100 people, launching a string of highly successful pubs in the process.
Having scooped the prestigious title of 2015's Champion Beer of Britain, Tiny Rebel now joins the equally exclusive list of Beery Christmas brewers. And if that weren't enough, Juicy, one of Tiny Rebel's flagship cask ales, is now available in bottles for the very first time especially for Beery Christmas!
The Style: Golden Ale is a relatively modern invention, tracing its history back to the 1980s. According to the UK's Campaign for Real Ale, the style was a highly successful attempt by independent brewers to turn younger drinkers onto Craft Beer and away from heavily-promoted industrial lagers which were popular at the time.
The style is characterised by a crisp, biscuity, fruity Pale Malt backbone paired with mouth-wateringly juicy floral and fruity hops.
Food Pairings: With its lighter body and lower alcohol content, Golden Ale is a versatile beer style that goes well with a wide range of foods. As a summer thirst-quencher it's a terrific match for smoky barbecue chicken or a crisp, peppery Caesar's Salad, but it's equally at home with zesty fruit desserts any time of year.
One of our favourites is a zingy basil-and-lemon-meringue pie that simultaneously compliments the juicy hops while flattering the spicy, biscuity malts. There's lovely!
