Award-winning Blanche de Honnelles by Belgium’s Abbaye des Rocs received a platinum medal at Chicago’s World Beer Championships to become something of a benchmark in the world of Blanche beer.
With a thick white head, and pouring more of a hazy amber than a true blanche, at 6% it also boasts a higher alcohol content than other beers of this style.
This highly particular beer is brewed using a mix of three cereals - barley, wheat, and oats – to give a distinctive character. The bouquet is full of soft, fruity flavours, with coriander, malt, and citrus, which are echoed on the palate alongside spicy, peppery notes, and an attractive yeastiness.
