A golden Barley Malt, Munich Light gives a mash colour of between 13-17 EBC or 5.4-6.9 Lovibond. Its equivalent is Weyermann Munich I Malt, with an EBC of 12-18 or 5.1-7 Lovibond.
It is primarily used for Pale Ale type beers, but also for Amber and stronger brown beers, and Bocks.
The maximum recommended dose is 60%. Munich Light Malt is roasted at 100-105°C. This will result in a slightly darker, golden-orange coloured beer.
Used in small quantities with Pilsen Malt, it brings out the Malty flavours and reinforces the colour, while in greater quantity it reinforces the flavour profile of the beer.
You should store your Munich Light Malt in a cool dry place for a maximum of 24 months. If the Malt has been milled, it should be used within 3 months to ensure the maximum flavour.
