Crystal Malt is a Caramel Barley Malt with a colouring of 142-158 EBC or 53.8-59.8 Lovibond. It is ideal for aromatic, coloured beers requiring a strong Malty character, such as Belgian Ales or German Bocks. It is used to great effect in Brewdog Five AM Saint.
The maximum recommended dosage is 20% in combination with other Malts, such as Pilsen Base Malt.
This Malt is caramelised in multiple stages to achieve a unique range of aromas and flavours. It gives your beer a copper colour as well as a rich taste and softer bitterness thanks to a higher diastatic capacity than other traditional coloured Malts.
You should store your Crystal Malt in a cool dry place for a maximum of 24 months. If the Malt has been milled, it should be used within 3 months to ensure the maximum flavour.
